I'm not an au pair, so this might not be helpful, but I'd just tell her that you were looking around at ways to get home for that time period and it seems pretty expensive, and then ask if it would be possible for you to stay at the house while they're gone. Does your contract say anything about vacations? If not, it seems like you might be on the hook for food and that you might not be paid.
