F'in hilarious historicity!

My curiosity piqued, I did some digging to see if I could find the source of these rules, and found the even more hilarous set of rules from 1872 ("Men teachers m ay take one evening each week for courting purposes, or two evenings a week if they go to church regularly").

Sadly, Snopes has proclaimed "fake" on that list, though apparently just for lack of evidence.

I've seen those.
Not married for the term of contract, I'm arguing, is fairly accurate.
