Hehe... well, this image marked a change from my former assays in that I was consciously working with manipulation in the inking phase, which means ink applied varyingly over the composition and following that up with certain rubbings, exclusions, lightenings, etc. It's pretty great, the richness with which one can invest a relatively simple image with the proper texturing and ink work. Carved prints are really fun, actually... there's a certain element of crude chaos involved that results in some pretty interesting outcomes :).
p.s. I have no idea what frisket is :). ... A euphemism for sex? Er, I mean, "naughty time"?
frisket, my darling, is a gummy adhesive you put on watercolor paper to block out any areas you do not want painted. and then you get a special eraser and rub it off when you do want to work with it. fun!
frisket does sound naughty! frisky ki!
i love the whole rubbiness of the piece, yeah, and the chaos, too, from carving. so it's lino?
Ah, that sounds quite useful! Ross is planning on commencing a creative project having to do with watercolor sometime soon.. he could probably make good use of such frisk-tools.
Yeah, it's linoleum... about 3"x4" or so. The next woodblock will be considerably larger than that. About...12"x5"?
