I was saddened to hear about Heath Ledger's death. It's actually strange, how sad you can be about someone you've never met. Maybe it's because my roommate and I have been all exited about the Dark Knight for so long, and first I wasn't too happy to hear they had cast Heath Ledger as the Joker, but when I saw the first promo pictures I was really

Yes. You can see it here in Livejournal too. I don't really know many people from my friends list, and half of them don't probably know that I read their journals, but still, when I hear news about their lives (like jenthompson having a baby) I feel really connected and genuinely happy or sad.

Yes - that's it - we're so connected to the lives of virtual strangers. I don't personally know many of my LJ friends, but when something bad happens, in particular, it does affect me.
