As far as needing off for Saturday, why don't you just tell them you've got tickets to a concert that you've had for months (yes, I remember when you got them) and see what they say? Most bosses would understand something like that isn't going to come up all that often and would give you the day or at least let you off early or something. Hope it works out, I know how excited you were.
