my friend tried to teach me to play lacross a while ago.
If it was me, I would have been laughing too much for it to work. I can see it now: "Okay, grip the stick very firmly right here..."

It's okay to laugh. Really.
Even if people stare at you and back away slowly because they have no idea what's so funny.

heh...I know...but once I start laughing I tend to not be able to, you know, stop, and that's not a good thing.
