Do you get paid vacation days off for your trip to Alaska, or do you just have to request to not work?

Should turn out to be paid. There's the possibility that I won't have enough days saved up for that, but I don't really care... They can use my sick bank or just not pay me.

The important part is getting to go on vacation, since we've been making plans for this for 2 years now.

I'm glad that things are going well for you! Even if the new job isn't amazing, at least you have work that will let you go to the long-awaited Alaskan cruise.
