Which makes me even sadder about the whole thing :( I love my LJ and the whole concept and was ready to defend it until I read the news post... no point defending it if the management is going to undermine it all :(
I love LJ for the same reasons, but they're beginning to be not worth it, especially since I hardly use these features anymore anyway.
That is exactly the problem with their moneymaking policy... they forget that some people are here only to read what other people write. If you drive away those who write, you will drive away those who read too, so it's not like a normal business where if you lose one customer it's just that one customer - this one has chain reactions. Which is exactly what LJ's owners don't seem to understand, this concept of LJ as a COMMUNITY and not just a blog.
Hmm I think I will still stay on here, because the security levels, filters and my friends make it hard for me to go away, plus LJ was and is still a huge part of my life. Quite pathetic I know lol.
Haven't started one outside of the craft blog I was talking about some time back.
Those are also the reasons why I stayed through SixApart's ownership, but they're starting to look less and less worth it now that I hardly write anything and consequently hardly anyone reads my blog.
I'm not asking anyone to leave with me, and I haven't even decided to leave yet. It all depends on how they handle this issue of basic accounts. I'm sorely disappointed so far.
