Weeeee, fic! (aparently part 1 of 2)derek_blyJanuary 11 2007, 02:12:50 UTC
"Bly," Mac said gruffly, "There you are. Come in."
Derek nodded and ducked into the office, giving a brief thought to sitting in one of the spare chairs before ruling it out. Mac's office wasn't really a place to feel relaxed.
The head Auror, meanwhile, settled into the chair behind his desk comfortably. "I just wanted to make sure you were ready to testify tomorrow in Salix's trial."
Derek stopped- or would have stopped had he been moving at all to begin with- and stared at his boss. "I- What?" He didn't honestly think that- "Mac...I can't." A crowd of thoughts were swirling through his head already but that was definitely the most important point.
The lines of Mac's face changed. "You what?"
Derek shook his head. "He's Hannah's brother." This should be perfectly obvious. How could Mac even think this would be okay

The Head Auror cursed and started pacing, muttering to himself. Derek forcefully ignored the knots twisting in his stomach and tried desperately to think of something. "Gov, I'll do anything else you ask. I'll tell you anything but I cannot go in there. I won't be the one to put him in Azkaban."
"It's not a request!" Mac yelled again. "I tell you and you do it! Merlin, Bly, you're covering for him. A Death Eater! You're in a better position than anyone and now you're telling me you can't vouch for it because of who you're sleeping with."
Derek's eyes turned cold and he glared at the older man. "Don't."
"Damnit, Derek."
"You have to find another way," Derek insisted. They were so close but he could feel it as well as the other Auror; they weren't going to make this stick. Were it anyone else, someone less connected, the evidence they had would have been enough. In this case it probably wasn't. "They're not going to believe me in there anyway, they know I'm biased. We're better off with someone else. Someone has to

Right, so this is overdue. I was out for the last four days and didn't get a thread started yet. SO, question, will Mac be coming to see her in St. Mungo's or taking her home/visiting her at her flat? I feel as though Lenore isn't going to be comfortable by herself for a bit. She may pretend that she is, but she won't even be pretending well and she'll feel much better if someone is there to keep her company. So, let me know what I should start/set up and we'll play :D

He'd take/help her home if asked or even if she acted like she wanted/needed the help or company, too, so either scenario would work.
I'm at work presently, but I'll be on later, so I'll ping you if I see you online.
