2 weeks later...
Okay. I finally finished watching all of Supernatural. Here are my general thoughts about each season thus far
Season 1
Way to go with picking one of those urban legends that used to scare the shit out of me when I was a kid. Right off the bat. Yeah, I hated that whole "Bloody Mary" thing, yes I would get dared to go into a bathroom and do it. And Yes, I would chicken out every time. But I digress.
Season 1 was good. Solid. But ultimately, what kind of irked me about it, was the fact they seemed to take themselves too seriously. There wasn't as much comedy to cut through the darkness/angst. I enjoyed the plot, wanted to strangle Meg. And John. But yeah, Season 1 was not my favorite.
Since I'm starting at the beginning, here are my thoughts on the 2 Winchester boys: If my icon wasn't already a hint, Sam is my favorite (even though after having finished season 4 I'm left saying "WTF STOP IT!!" I dunno, like the personality and the fact that Jared P is tall and dark haired....anyway. I still like Dean, the few bits of humor during this season were usually from him, which I greatly appreciate. However, a note to the Supernatural writers. It is freaking confusing having Jared Padalecki on a show, with another character who is named Dean. When he used to play a character named Dean on Gilmore Girls. It hurts my head.
Additionally to Season 1, we were introduced to Bobby. WHO FUCKING ROCKS.
Season 2
Definitely my favorite season thus far. I liked the new characters (Jo, Ellen, and Ash) and I'm sad they've all been kinda set aside for now (Well, Ash permanently. Bastards). The levity that I had been expecting in this show finally came around in season 2. Again, hitting on my childhood fear of creepy fucking CLOWNS. I liked how they revealed what was going on with Sam. Ya know, before the whole demon blood thing got annoying (I'm looking at YOU season 4!). We finally got werewolves (yesssss) and what resulted in a pretty heart wrenching episode (pun totally intended). And then we continue to see the self destructive Winchester cycle (I kill myself to save you and you turn around and kill yourself to save your brother who turns around and becomes a demon blood sucking whore.)
Excellent plot, excellent comedy. A++ Season
Season 3
...and now we arrive at season 3. Which had probably my least favorite plot line (I'm gonna die! Let me sacrifice myself early! No, you can't! Yes I can! No you can't! Later. Rinse. Repeat.) There were some good stand alone episodes, but still the over all plot kinda killed me. I guess it can be blamed on the writers strike. I did like Ruby Incarnation #1 (at least she wasn't fleeing through the woods in a wedding dress this time). I also liked Bella, I'm surprised her and Dean never got it on, they seemed perfect for each other. She must be chilling in hell still.
Season 4
THE ANGELS ARE COMING! Yeah, I loved Castiel, and Anna as well. While I thought the plot was interesting, it was pretty frustrating at the same time. Because you know what's going to happen. You know Sam is going to be stupid and be responsible for breaking a seal. The fact that it was all Yellow-Eye's plan was...okay, that surprised me. I wasn't a fan of Ruby #2, and there was no way she wasn't up to something. Oh sure, Lilith just happened to say "Oh, you stabbed us in the back before. No way you'll do that again. I'll let you go. *feigned stabbing in the back* Ah curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!" It's obvious she was Lilith's bitch. C'mon. I really hope Anna comes back this season (I know Castiel is), but it'll probably be with a different actress. Blah.
And apparently Season 5 is the last season? Way to jump onto a sinking ship, Kristen. Way to freaking go.
