Oh, make me regret turning down the vintage furs, won't you... Though the ending reminds me of the two mice at the end of "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe" for some reason... But in a cute way, not in a smushed way...
It's been about 20 years since I read it, but I do believe you are right about the Hitchhiker mice! Oh well, I guess it's hard not to borrow, especially when we forget where the idea came from. My only contact with animal pelts these days are the displays at nature centers. ;)
Glad you liked it! And thanks for helping me clarify--yes, vintage. ;)
In this fict, John's been with Sherlock long enough "in that way" to know when things were getting dicey, and I imagined him relying on the stratigizing soldier within to help keep them out of trouble.
If anyone had told me that I would enjoy a story featuring...furplay?...well, I probably wouldn't be all that surprised because I've stopped being surprised after three years of fanfiction, but still, I have to say that I'm quite impressed.
I wrote the dream six months ago (I'm always writing John having animal dreams) and it took this long to come up with the furplay as an excuse for him to have it. So you see, not a kink or even an interest of mine. But have to admit, it was tremendous fun to imagine and write. Glad you enjoyed it.

This is a lovely fic. I like that John thought to give in while he still had the sense not to let things get messy!
I'm imagining that the two dream-ermines are Sherlock's hands. :-)

Yep, dream-ermines = Sherlock's hands.
