Actually one of the Liberal MPs defected to get a spot in Harper's cabinet.

Not a big fan of this, am I. Given how the election was only a couple weeks ago, it's not like the Liberals have gone in a new direction that he disagrees with. Also makes you wonder if this was worked out BEFORE the election (in which case I imagine it would be illegal or at the very least highly unethical (as you are depriving Liberal supporters of a chance to support their party).

It does help the NDP as it fudges the numbers a bit but I still no like.

It sends a clear and strong message to the Liberals to not fuck up again.

Harper's first mandate is to piss off the Americans (doesn't he want to build a new port up somewhere in the Arctic to patrol more?)

This would stop the Americans from spying on Russia so much.

This would piss off the Americans.

I like it already.

But also, if Harper was to run in the states, he'd be a right-wing Democrat and not at all a Republican. So... really. It's not as bad as you'd think.

I know if I lived in that guy's riding and I had voted for him I'd be pretty pissed off that he switched parties a mere two weeks later.

Harper also managed to come of as hypocritcal with his actions on that one (based on his reaction to the Stronach situation and some of the statements he made) though the more hypocritical appointment would be Fortier's. After Harper runs a campaign 'harping' on accountabilty he goes and appoints an unelected guy as a minister and sticks him in the Senate.
