Title: Homecoming
Rating: R
Summary: [Starfox Game Series] Has mentions of pre Falco/Fox. Falco finds help in a person he would have never expected.

Loud music blared out into the crowd, covering any other sounds in the whole building. A small token to be grateful for, given what the place was. A club, a hangout, it had many different names but it got the general purpose done. Simply put, it was a place where people could forget their troubles, if only for the night, in either the drinks or on the dance floor. Then again, there were always the extras. It didn’t matter where it was; every hangout or club always had a seemingly never ending supply and assortment of drugs and flesh. It was easy to going soaring on that perfect high and pleasures of the body was generally all it took for temptation to take off.

It was too hard to say how many times Falco had been in a place like this. It had quickly become part of his lifestyle since he had left the Starfox Team. He didn’t partake in any of the drugs, which had never been his fancy. On the other hand the girls…well a guy had to take care of his needs somehow right? True, Falco’s reasons went deeper then that but for now that didn’t matter. Soon he found what he was looking for. In places like this, it didn’t take long. After money and the introductions were handled Falco looked closely at what he had just ‘bought’ so to speak.

The girl he had paid for tonight was no different then what he normal looked for. She had long hair that was more red then brown but that hadn’t been what had caught his eye. It had been her eyes that had done it. They were a sparkling green, just a shade or two darker then Fox’s. Combine that with her slender figure and it was little wonder why she went by the name Vivian. She looked more like a wolf then a fox but Falco wasn’t complaining. In fact, he was wondering if perhaps this time he had found one too to the mark.

Then again, maybe he was just getting tired of this game.

Falco raised an eyebrow as Vivian asked about what kind of aircraft he flew. He had to hand it to the girl; she really liked to hear about the technical stuff. Her eyes had lit up when he mentioned that he flew for a living, reminding him painfully of his former captain. He was surprised, that was for sure, as he would have never guessed that a girl of her…character would be interested in any of that.

“So who is she?” Came the rather pointed question.

“What?” Falco replied, startled out of his thoughts.

“Or are you telling me that you paid a girl to talk about aviation?” Vivian raised an eyebrow at him.

“Uh..well..What makes you think there is a girl?”

Now this was different. Generally these type of girls walked off if they were ignored. Which was understandable; who would pay for something, or someone as the case may be, and then not use it? Yet this one sounded like she would hear him out. Maybe this was what he really needed, another person to talk to; to get that weight off his chest. More then likely he’d send the girl running after hearing about his mind fuck. What could it hurt? He was well beyond what people thought of him.

“Please, honey I’ve seen your type before and you probably won’t be the last either. Let me guess, you broke it off with your girl and now you’re pinning away for her? Just call her and say you’re sorry and be done with it.” Vivian tossed some of her hair over her shoulder and rolled her eyes a bit.

“Listen sweetheart, I don’t pine away for nobody. That’s a chick thing.” Falco grinned as his ‘companion’ rolled her eyes once more. If anything she was fun to tease.

“And another thing? It’s a guy, not a girl.” He added in before Vivian could make a more then likely vicious remark.

He also figured he’d just got ahead and get that little piece of information out there. If the girl wanted to go find another client then she now had her reason. Some girls, hell people really, were kinda funny when they heard some guys were gay. Falco watched as her eyes widened in shock and open her mouth before closing it without saying a word. Apparently he had thrown her for a loop.

“I see. Well he must be some kind of guy for you to zone out for ten minutes. Seeing how guys don’t pine away and all that.” Vivian smirked just slightly at her small victory.

Ten minutes? Had it really been that long? Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable. Normally he was the focused one. He had to be, seeing how trouble had always seemed to latch on to Fox first chance it got. Damn why was he thinking about Fox again? His night was definitely turning out to be one of his normal ones.

“Yeah, yeah he is.” Falco heard himself reply. What in the world was he doing?

“Then why did you leave then? Did he get himself a girl?”

Falco looked long and hard at Vivian. He couldn’t find a trace if malice in her eyes. So she was being sincere, something that really didn’t fit in with what she did for a living. Once again he found himself wondering why in the world why she was doing this. Obviously the girl was smart and she had a wicked sense of humor. With that alone she could go places, places better then this. It really wasn’t his business though, even if he could tell there had to be something else going on. Even at that, there was nothing he could do, except talk with her. Where was the harm in that?

“Who Fox? Nah, the day he gets a girl is the day hell will freeze over.” Falco laughed as he signaled the barkeep for two more of whatever the hell he was drinking.

“So he doesn’t like to play with the girls like you do huh?” Vivian gave him a mischievous smile as she sipped on her drink.

“Actually…I have no idea how Fox likes to play really. I just know he wouldn’t want some girl chained down on whatever planet he was closet too just waiting to spend a measly few hours together. Fox practically lives in the sky.” Or rather does Falco mentally corrected himself as he recalled the Great Fox.

He quickly pushed away the sudden pang of loneliness at the thought of his former home. It did no good to think about it; he had made his decision a long time ago. He fully intended to stick by the vow he had made. Never mind the fact that it became harder and harder to do so as the years went by.

“Women can fly too you know. She wouldn’t have to be stuck on some planet.” Vivian shot back. It was an obvious sore spot for her. Interesting.

“Whoa sweetheart, I never said that. Hell I’ve seen some kick ass pilots before and they were women. It’s just the things w-he gets into are pretty dangerous.” He held up his hands, showing he meant no harm. He had a feeling that Vivian’s temper was not something to play around with.

Quite like someone else he knew.

“Then he needs to pick the right person.” Falco took notice of the fact that she said ‘person’ instead of ‘girl’. For some reason he really appreciated that,

“And yet, how can he pick if you’re here? Sounds like he’s getting the raw end of the deal if you ask me.” Vivian went on, raising an eyebrow at him again.

Talk about hitting a raw nerve. Falco opened his mouth to make a reply only to find he didn’t have one. One simple statement brought back all the emotions and thoughts he had pushed far, far away long ago. Sure, maybe Fox was getting the raw end of the deal. It was better that way, for the both of them. Right? For the first time Falco was starting to doubt himself on the decisions he had made. He had left the Starfox Team because he realized that his feelings for Fox could no longer be contained. He didn’t know how Fox would feel about that one..and Falco wasn’t too keen on rejection either. So, he left. He would rather keep his distance and stay best friends with Fox than lose him completely over some silly feelings.

He had learned to be content with the dreams and cherished the few and far in-between conversations he had with Fox. The captain never questioned why he left, he simply respected Falco’s decision. It made the pain even worse.

“I..I just don’t know.” Falco confessed, running a hand through his feathers.

“See, that’s the problem! You left before you got any answers! Go back to your family Falco, You belong with them…and maybe there you’ll find your answers. They’re not here and not in any place like it. You know that.” Vivian urged, her green eyes bright with her conviction.

The family remark struck a cord with him, Falco admitted. He missed all the guys, not just Fox. He missed Peppy’s well meant rants directed at him and Fox after some risky flying. Hell he even missed Slippy’s ‘accidents’ when he went tinkering with some new invention of his. He missed the conversations they all had shared and the shared thrill of completing a mission in top form. He missed the closeness that he had felt with them all. It all had been taken for granted and he didn’t realize it until he had left the team.

“Guess you’re right. Maybe it is time I headed back.” Falco replied after thinking it over for a few more minutes. He liked the idea more then even he realized.

“That’s the spirit, doll. You’ll do fine, I just know you will!”

“Yeah? Thanks, I mean for everything tonight, you’re an alright gal. Look me up sometime on Corneria and I’ll introduce you to him.” Falco winked at the girl as he stood. He had that reckless smile on his face and hadn’t felt this happy for a long time.

“Psh, don’t mention it. Now get out of here. Your captain is waiting for your sorry hide.” Vivian leaned over and kissed Falco on the cheek before turning to leave.

“Oh by the way, I hear McCloud’s doing some work on what’s referred to as Dinosaur Planet. You’ll probably find him there. Later Doll!” With that, Vivian was gone, lost in the crowd.

Falco stood there stunned. He never mentioned Fox’s last name, he was sure of it, He didn’t need somebody over hearing and tracking down Fox due to him. So how did Vivian know? It was more obvious now that she more then a mere hooker but other then that he had no idea. Well, perhaps for now it didn’t really matter. Falco felt she could be trusted and his instincts were generally pretty good to go by. Right now though, what really mattered the most was getting back to his teammates.

His family.
