Okay, guys.... I need some opinions! I keep stalling on this whole cell phone decision and it's driving me nuts. It's impossible trying to get a clear comparison of what each of the smart phones do and how well.... at least for my geek-impaired self ( Read more... )

I have a pink Centro and both Chris and Cedric have the black one. I love it - seriously, best phone I have ever owned. BLackberry phones always seemed far too bulky to me.

Yea, you know more than anyone just how much I have been lagging and stalling in making this decision. If it weren't for the lengthy contracts and multiple disappointments in the past it would be an easier decision to make. Hell, even if I could simply find information that made an honest comparison and actually rated the usability of these features, it would be a bit easier.

Okay.... part of the problem is my general propensity for indecision, getting overwhelmed with the amount of data and lack of information out there and good old fashioned procrastination. Admittedly I put the whole thing on hold when I went back to school last term. But, now that I've lengthened my commute I'm definitely missing the ability to function with the outside world a little more.

I just got the LG Versa (though Verizon) and so far I like it OK. The only p.i.t.a. is the touch screen part has some small buttons so one needs to use the stylus every-so-often. This is made difficult because the stylus is attached via a tether cord. Bad design. Other than that, I like it. I have only had it less than a week though so... Time will tell.

I have a blackberry curve and love it. The pictures aren't perfect, but pretty good for a phone and has a flash to it. (you asked about that somewhere in there) I love that the type is also a nice size for my 'old' eyes and bad eyesight. I am able to get a clear call whether it is on speaker phone or not and I use Verizon as I have for the last 5 years or so. It has been a good company to us.

I love that it takes pictures when I don't have my camera, it keeps my schedule and alerts me when I have something coming and also organizes my crap. I have a few places I use the word client and excel on it. I can get my email and also check twitter and facebook with it. I love that I can also still use my VZ Navigator as well. I get lost easily. :)

no i definitely don't think the camera on the G1 is awesome at all, but I think it has the capability to take great pictures when the subject isn't moving, the lighting is good, and you don't have shaky hands.

I've taken some good pictures of my cats and a few scenery pics that I will send you tm. But I really dislike that it doesn't have a flash, that the shutter lags (a lot more than normal) and that the lighting is so sensitive and always dark.

Next time I see you I will show you where to look at on the phone for the applications. There are a ton of them that are similar to what the iphone has to offer.

I also got used to the keyboard really quickly. It has the upraised little bars on the f and j keys to orientate you and makes typing a lot easier. I think it takes some getting used to at first, but it's better than a couple of the blackberries I have tried.

one being the curve, which I really couldn't stand the keyboard. the keys were really close together (compared to the g1)

Thanks! Your comment was really useful as I've been throwing this idea around for the last week. The G1 has been my top contender for a while. I finally got around to ordering one today! =) Hearing from someone who's actually used the phone and loves it was just what I needed to hear! ;-)

I've heard complaints about the battery life with the G1. Someone, maybe the guy at the T-mobile store when I went in last fall, told me that when he called T-mobile and complained about it they sent him out a new battery. Have you tried that? What have you done to remedy the battery life issue?
