I saw it, and while I definitely think you're right, you should have been capable of recognizing the difference between 'photographers' and 'polaroid enthusiasts' or people just having fun. I mean, honestly, a real photographer making really amazing art probably wouldn't be randomly uploading it to livejournal communities. There needs to be a level of subjectivity about any art posted by fourteen year olds on the internet, and I think what you did was inappropriate-- this doesn't mean it was wrong, just that it was a waste of time that:

a) hurt peoples' feelings, and
b) won't serve to create what you want as an end result.

Just because you posted that doesn't mean the quality's going to improve. It's just going to scare more people off from art, which is a terrible thing.

Just my two cents. Anyway, seeing as I haven't heard from you in forever, how about you come sleep in my bed for a while? ;)

Art IS criticism, and presenting it to the world is asking for it. Those people don't make art, and thus, aren't aware of that.

i saw that post you did in the polaroid community too, and...yeah, more or less what yrlover said. i agree with you, a lot of what goes through that community is basically crap, but i think you might have been a bit too vocal about that. that said, kudos to you for having the guts to come out and say what you think, regardless of what everyone else thinks.

p.s. i am in that commuinty and added you after. i agree there is a lot of trash not as much as in the holga community though. i never post in either and hardly post in my journal. but i check it all the time.. uhm yea i figured id introduce myself and this seems a fine place to do it.
