Foot pain?

Sep 12, 2008 13:37

On my left foot I've had arch pain on and off while walking for a long time now. Today's been one of the worst days, and looking some stuff up I think I may have plantar fascitis, but I wanted to know if anyone had ever had that or similar stuff. My wife would laugh at me right now since she sees real pain on her Ob/Gyn rotation so I can't ask her ( Read more... )

Me thinks seeing a doctor would be a far better choice than asking us.

He'd love to see a doctor -- unfortunately his doctor of choice is several hundred miles away right now. ;)

I've had plantar fascitis. I know tons of stuff about it. It took a long time to get rid of it, too. I had to get orthotics and mostly wear running shoes because it.

You can do some stretching exercises which you can get on the internet. But you really should see your doctor.

I'm thinking of finding those exercises and then getting better arch support at a store tonight and hoping that cuts off the worst of it

My boss had it. I told him about the exercises and that was enough for him. The exercises didn't do anything for me.

yep, I had it. No sense going to the doctor about it if you doctor doesn't know feet. I got the complete opposite diagnosis and wrong treatment suggestions until I went to a podiatrist.

key symptom as far as I'm concerned: it hurts most in the morning when you are first walking around and eases up when you get your feet stretched out.

It took a long time and foot taping and (eek) cortizone shots) and learning to stretch and custom orthotics to get rid of the pain. But it's gone and stayed gone.

I found out that the reason it hurts when you first step out of bed is because everything that healed overnight gets torn out again when you put your weight on it. One of the many things I did, which included taping and eventually wearing a special boot at night, was to step into slippers with arch support when I got out of bed. I still do it, even though I haven't had a problem in years.

That makes it sound so much worse! I'm glad nobody told me that when I was trying to heal my feet. When I'd wake up, I used to have to sit in bed and massage my feet for a while to get ready for that first step- and yeah, no going barefoot, even around the house.

Sorry--I really don't know anything about it. But I hope that your foot won't hurt so much and that you can find out a solution to make it better. *hugs* I suggest trying what Susan and Su said. :D
