Obligatory Ike update

Sep 13, 2008 10:34

I'm up in north Texas, so in about 2-3 hours we'll be feeling the effects of the storm. The reports are that we should be mostly fine (30-50 mph winds with gusts to 60 and 1-4 inches of rain). I'm well away from the worst of it, so no real need to worry about me. I'm in the area where it should be a good show, we may lose power for a bit, but ( Read more... )

Well if you have 45 mph winds and above you may lose power for a bit but hopefully not for long. I am worried about Katze I see that Houston has had some damage and flooding.

Houston's got hit pretty hard - she's probably without power at the moment. About 4 million people are without power. I don't know what part of Houston she's in but the south houston stuff evidently flooded, but the other areas are just going to have to sit it out. They're getting hit pretty hard right now - the hurricane passed just to the east of the city.

Yeah I saw on the news. I hope she is okay. I know she and her husband have a generator. Hopefully no major damage to her home.

Almost 11 AM now- I don't think it's even going to rain in Austin.

All we've had is a few gusts and a few sprinkles. My landlord went out earlier and grabbed the cushions off the deck chairs, etc but really, no real prep needed. It'll just be bad luck if branches fall on my car :p.

They keep reporting about it in the news, first pics don't look good, but that was to expected. Hope all are OK!

Glad to hear everything is going ok there. We had a major run on gas here yesterday with everyone afraid of what would happen (it was a bit of a panic, people blocking traffic to wait in an hour long line) and we aren't even going to get the outer bands.

I rarely stock up anymore either, but you'll certainly wish you had some canned ravioli should your power stay out long. Usually it's just really boring. You should just charge up all of your stuff (cell phone, laptop) before it comes, so at least you'll have something to do. :)

Nothing's really happened yet here either. A tiny bit of wind, I guess, but no rain. Meh. I wanted it to rain. I love thunderstorms. :D
