It took her a second to realize that was happening, and she even turned to some oblivious shopper coming out of the store and asked if they saw that. They didn't. Of course they didn't.
When Jaye saw that whatever it was kept on coming, and that the parking lot with her car didn't seem to be there anymore, she muttered, "Fine. Fine," and annoyedly (was that a word?) picked up her phone and dialed a number.

"It took me a half dozen tries to get across the causeway," he warned, glancing back at Rory, "so don't get too worried about that. It's just how things are right now."
