And as Arcanacon sinks slowly in the west...

It was a very good con, overshadowed by a very great loss.

I never knew Aveline and so I cannot speak of her at all. But I can speak of the effect her passing has had on so many that I know and love. If a person is judged by the quality and character of those who loved them then Aveline is all that people have said and more. I get the feeling that not having known her was a loss that I never knew I had.

The con was one of the best I've ever been to. Everything seemed to run smoothly (and by all reports so far did run smoothly.) The con orgs did a mighty job, and all with humour and good grace under what must have been trying conditions for them. The games that I played were great and the ones that I merely observed also looked like a lot of fun. Personally I caught up with a lot of the people I love but don't get to see nearly often enough, deepened some friendships and made a few new ones.

Thank you to everyone who was involved; to those who did the work of running and writing and running around. Without all of you I couldn't have had the weekend I had and I am grateful that all of you are willing to do what you do for us for nothing more than the satisfaction that comes from doing it. You should all be very proud of what you have done and the spirit that you created this weekend past.
