Hello people! I am still sniffling non-stop, but I made a huge effort today to go out and do stuff with Oscar. Everyone should bow down to my glorious achievement! C´mon, you know you want to...
Anyway, what we actually did today... Well, first we went back to our favourite restaurant (again) for lunch, where the waiter gave me a smooch on each cheek for being such a great customer. I love that place ;) Then we went for a loooooooong walk. First stop on the way was The Pedrera, which we didn´t enter unless you count a visit to have a look at the excellent and reasonably priced gift shop on the ground floor.
We continued down the road to the so-called Apple/Block (same word in Spanish) of Discord, a part of the Passeig de Gracia (big avenue in Barcelona) with three amazing- but very different- buildings all in the one block. One is Casa Batlló, which you can see some great photos of by
clicking here. Entry wasn´t cheap, but it was amazing and we´re both very glad we paid and went in. Spent over an hour there. Very cool.
The other two buildings on the block are Casa Amatller, which you can have a look at on this Dutch site and Casa Lleo Morera, some photos of which are on the same site as the one I´ve linked for photos of Casa Batlló. We went into Casa Amatller too, but only the foyer area, where there was a great exhibition (free!) of photos of the Islamic world. Fantastic! Oscar took some photos also. I´m sure he´ll be inflicting them all on everyone when we get home anyway, and I´m feeling too awful to figure out how to post them right now.
After that, we went to the The Barcelona City Museum, which is a very cool place built on top of Roman ruins, which have been excavated so you can wander through.
By this time I was really flagging and running out of tissues that were anywhere close to being re-usable (again), so we headed for dinner then took a hot, stuffy metro ride home.
