eating in sydney

I'm in Sydney for the weekend and I'd love to get some recommendations of good places to get vegan food in the city/surrounds. The cheaper the better! Thanks.

Also it's in Newtown. It's about 10 minutes by car from the CBD.

I'm in the middle of compiling a list of places. I often forget restaurants I don't frequent often, and especially the times.

here is my semi-finished list.

Hope that helps.

Oh, as for cheap, I would stay away from Bodhi and Mother Chu's, which are on the pricier end. Green Gourmet can be a little more expensive too.
Burgers are pretty cheap. Pizza can be a bit expensive, but Basil Pizza also does vegan 'meat' pies for under $6. Green Palace is good too (they have a buffet which is cheaper than their sit-down menu. I think you can get 3 choices for $9 or so).

Ooh, ooh, go to Naked Espresso for breakfast! (It's also in Newtown; you can get a bus from Central or train from Central/Circular Quay, although Naked Espresso is a ten-minute walk back towards town from the train station (along King Street, which is Newtown's high street). See Bizwac's post, linked above, for details of location.

In case you should be leaving the city for Manly by ferry at any point during the weekend, Pure Wholefoods on Darley Road (1 block back from the beach) is very vegan-friendly, and pretty much your only local option.
