I like your openness. Without seeming naive or simple-minded you always seem to be questioning yourself or the world around you and take nothing for granted.
Even when you're brought down it doesn't seem that serious, as though misfortune is a thin layer over a well of good cheer. Not that I'm sure that sadness or pain is any less real for you; just that you don't let it keep you down.
Your warmth. In one way or another, you, Nick and I have become very different people, but you don't judge or question either of us; you love us and you understand.
Beyond that, I think many of the people with whom you surround yourself are very different in one way or another as well: young or old, radical or conservative, outgoing or withdrawn, mainstream or extreme. But you offer them all the same unquestioning and embracing affection.
Your consistency. I realise I may be feeding a fire, since this is one of the things you like best about yourself.
I am, or try to be, a creature of reason, and am endlessly amazed by people's ability to contradict or undermine themselves, and then to completely fail to see that they do so. Not you. You are quite insistent in your desire for self-knowledge, and fierce in your goal to be true to yourself and consistent in your conduct.
It may be that none of us can truly understand himself, or be completely consistent in his ideas or values, but if anyone can I would trust you to get there first. And I'm pleased to know someone like that.

Or that's how you seem to me.

Never mind.
