I love your post. It makes the case for voting Yes to AV even more obvious that it's amazing there's as much opposition as there is.
I confess that as late as last week, I had no idea what position I should adopt. So much so that I was ready to treat as junk mail the now infamous Tony Robinson/Benjamin Zephaniah Yes campaign leaflet - the fuss over which I paid no attention to.
So I read carefully the information on the websites of both the Yes and No campaigns and it was not difficult to see that AV would be better than FPTP. The thing is, a lot of it is actually common sense.

Added my voice to the chorus of support for AV this morning - http://atwas.posterous.com/why-av-is-better-than-first-past-the-post - in case any of my friends think FPTP is better (or worse, are in the group who don't know and/or don't care).

I shall be voting Yes on this issue. While I think it will improve the system, I'm still not convinced that it's not going to be exploitable.
