I think I just had the most hectic weekend I've had for agesssss, so this is gonna be huge but i'll try and cut most of it. :)
M-ONE
So I picked Tess up at 10am and I drove to Clifton Hill train station, after a little detour around Clifton Hill
cause I was too busy talking and not paying attention so I totally missed the turn off. *lol* opps. Anyway, we made it too Colonial Stadium by 11 and we just sat on the field. It started off pretty crap, with a pile of bands who probably should have been on the new music stage, rather than the main stage.
A simple Plan- were really great. Neither of us had heard of them before, but we both loved them. They were Canadian and only had a 20min slot but they had such an amazing stage personality. They even ran on the stage with a huge Aussie flag and had Aussie slang down pact. They were going to be somewhere in the venue selling cds & merchandise & signing autographs and just meeting "cute Aussie girls" and I wanted to go meet and buy a cd, but Tess was a little uncooperative so we just sat on the grass. Bah...
Garbage- Were the 2nd last band to perform and I had to sit through a terrible hour of Billy Idol to hear them and Tess going on about how tired she was and constant hints she wanted to leave, but it was well worth the torture. Shirley said this amazing quote, which I totally fell in love with and I have to look for to see if I can find it somewhere. Words cannot describe the performance really. I loved Cherry Lips and the intro she said to it. I really want to find the books by the author she mentioned too.
The Goo Goo Dolls- Well they were really good. A lot better than I expected. They also knew what the audience wanted - Iris, so they left it till last, and after they finished, they did a little repeat of the chorus. After there performance, I wouldn't mind checking out their albums. :) The lead singer did have alcohol poisioning and had no recollection of Friday night. :)
Lifehouse- Tess was quite disappointed with their performance, but I thought it was quite good. The audience went crazy for Hanging by a moment and they previewed some stuff from there next album apparently. I must say I totally emjoyed Sick Cycle Carousel.
Nickelback- Tess said they were her favourite performance on the day, but I wasn't terribly impressed. I loved them performing How you remind me, and quite enjoyedWhere do I hide and Too Bad but apart from that I wasn't impressed all that much. I'll just say I have no intention buying their cds and am quite content to download and burn the odd song I do like. According to the lead singer, Melbourne has the best weed in the world. He. ;) He also shared what pub they were going to afterwards and said "come get pissed with them." Considering the amount of people I saw at crown that night/morning I say not many did.
The Whitlams-*YAY* for Aussie goodness. The crowd went psycho. I never considered myself a fan of theirs, nor realised I actually knew any of their songs, but I knew most they performed. I loved kill the pokies (or ban the pokies or whatever.) I really want to invest in their cds and maybe check em out when they're next at the Commercial Hotel.
Well, that's it on MONE now to FREAKY 30+ year old STALKER GUYS.
So, around 11pm I went clubbing for Rebecca's 21st birthday. We went to The Mercury Lounge in Crown casino. So early on in the night/morning I somewhat hooked up with this really funny and sweet guy. However, wheneversome guy they weren't interested in wanted to dance with them we moved to another section of the club. Some Asian guy wanted to dance with Erin and she didn't want a bar of it, so we moved and I lost funny sweet guy. Erin ended up hooking up with some guy upstairs. Then I get this guy who would easily have to be 30, who wanted to dance and I said no, so then we wouldn't leave me alone. He kept coming up and pestering me. So, I ended up taking off to the toilet, only to find when I come out, pestering guys friend was standing outside the door waiting for me. He then followed me back in between grabbing me. My so-called "friends" could see what was going on. My "friends" and I went of to the bar to do some tequilla shots, and I was followed again. They stood behind me and just stared. Eventually, I couldn't deal with it any more and the fact that they had had many conversations with the security guard pertrolling that area had me concerned. So, without my "friends" who by this time were too pissed and busy making out to care what was happening with me (not that they actually ever appeared to care) I decided to leave the club (at 4am, 3 hours after it all started) with the thought that surely they wouldn't follow me out. Low and behold they did, so I ended up entering the gambling part and standing around the security guys who were at the enterances checking peoples IDs, about 30minutes of that made Stalker guys leave. So, I went back to the club, to find the "freinds" I was meant to be going home with. Then about 5.15 we finally left the casino and I've never been so happy to be back in Reservoir and in my house than that morning.
So, Sunday I was at Rebecca's for the family barbeque. We were there for 12 and a 1/2 hours (I'm terribly sleep deprived at the moment!) and I was terribly bored and cranky. For the whole time I did not speak to Rebecca, nor did she make any effort to speak to me, let alone mention the clubbing occurances. I'm a lot calmer than I have been about this but I still dislike the double standards!! I have to leave a guy cause they don't want to dance with some guy, but when not only do I not want to dance with someone, I get followed everywhere I go, I have to grin and bear it. Yea, NICE!! For all any of us knew, they could have been some rapist or even murderers. Good, to see that they cared tho.
