English Commentary.

I'm not going to pretend I'm not bitter about Chelsea's knocking Bayern Munich out of the Champion's League. Indeed, when it comes to football, I, having learned the German language as long as it has been available to me at school and visited Germany on several occasions, consider myself almost an honorary Bavarian. With the state Scottish ( Read more... )

I have to say, I look forward to English commentary, when I compare it to Mark Hately and Jock Brown of Setanta and the post match analysis by craig Burley. It's awful ( ... )

I understand that German commentators would have been the same, but that's why we should do what they do in cricket and have one German, one Englishman - that way they tend to respect each other's views or just get into arguments - either way it's fairer as both sides are represented by the commentators and entertaining if they argue ( ... )

Yeah, you have a point, i'd welcome Ballack to Rangers with open arms, but it won't happen so it's not a scenario I need to worry about.

I didn't realise that was the format for cricket, it's a good idea, however, I don't see it being appreciated by the masses in the UK, if one guy on ITV is urging Bayern on.

I was on a message forum and what worried me, was there were some Inter fans who thought Dida was to blame. They said he had the choice to get out the way of the flare. It's scary that there are some people who think that way. The only choice in the matter was to throw the flare or not, Dida shouldn't have to move on the pitch, where he's meant to be playing.

But with last nights incident, it wasn't the minority. 3 flares were thrown at Dida and countless lighters, coins and bottles. It was a good 2/3 of the stand throwing stuff. Which is a worrying state for Italien football. Just this morning, 9 Juve fans attacked a Liverpool fan who was on his own. I hope UEFa get the finger out and do something!

Definitely. It's horrendous. And thanks for reminding me that the game's on! Better go watch and hope this one gets finished!

ballack is way too good for rangers. he would definitely cut the premiership, and probably any league in the world, but i wouldn't be surprised if he stayed in germany, because he is a role model there and isnt really as appreciated in other parts of the world. it would be a david beckham scenario but i wouldnt say ballack is as much of a promotional asset and i hope he stays with bayern because the german league isnt that boring,as its wide open just now and has been all season whereas the premiership is finished already. as long as he doesn't go to italy cause we don't want poor michael getting hit by a flare, he took a bad enough challenge already from carvalho :p

Course he's too good for Rangers. I was just using it as an example to show his antics are okay to the fans of his club.

We don't want anyone getting hit by a flare. Especially John Hartson. The greedy bastard will try and eat it. Then there will be serious trouble.

Welsh internationalist John Hartson suffered serious internal burns last night, after swallowing a flare thrown from the crowd.

Speaking to reporters from his hospital bed, he explained that he thought the flare "looked like a bar of nougat" and that he "couldn't afford to let an opportunity for free food like that go." The striker still claims that it was worth every minute of the painful internal burns he suffered, maintaining: "Okay, so it wasn't quite as chewey as nougat... kind of like a spicy sherbert, I'd say. I'd definitely eat one again, but maybe put it out first."

Doctors say he only has himself to blame for the injury, which will keep him sidelined for up to 3 months.

Perhaps an alternative methop of looking at the issue would be that These commentators have been playing, watching, cauching, managing or criticizing the game for several years than you, and so my natural assumption would be that they are in a more privelidged position than thou to state whats goin on. This is what strikes me, although I never saw either of the games.

It's a fair point. But it's really not true. It's generally agreed that English commentators are biased and annoying.

To be honest, you don't have to have been involved in football in anyway to pass judgement on a match/player. Jose Mourinho, arguably one of the best managers in the world, never played football and started off as the kitman at Barcelona. But when he started giving Bobby Robson some tips about the game, he moved his way up to assistant manager of the Under 18's team. And the rest is history. But point being, you don't have to have had any involvement in the game to have a clue about the game itself.

Jose Mourinho is a wank. He's an awful manager. Sure, tactically, he's a bit of a genius. Although it won't show at Chelsea, as he has so much money that a 12 year old could do pretty well.

But still, he knows a lot about football but nothing about sport. He is quite frankly the worst loser I've ever seen. The thing about Barcelona and Frank Rikyard and Anders Frisk was terrible - how you'd expect a three year old to behave in defeat - before they know any better. His jibes at Liverpool fans with the "shh"ing in the Diddy Cup final were terrible too. He is a bad role-model and a bad sportsman. Who knows what he's going to come out with when Milan beat him in the Champions' League final - I'm sure it'll be theatrical and entertaing.

Man, I hate that guy.

To paraphrase Maddox: "If I could remake 'The Last Samurai', I would set it in Biblical Japan, when it was underwater. The main character would be Jose Mourinho, and the movie would mostly consist of him drowning. Man, that would rule so hard."
