I think an online one of these with a little less stuff in it would be quite good, but I'd like to keep my journal separate. So what I think is: I could set up a community or even just a user name for travel stories and spread it about ( Read more... )

y neil,
i know it's random that im emailing you but as the only computer whiz i know i hope you might be able to help me out on a few small problems.
firstly, my computer has a fire wall but somehow porn from a site called orbit or something has downloaded itself onto my windows media player and wont let me fully delete it so i removed it from a playlist and now i cant find it- any chance you know how i can find it again?
also, how do i do a hard disc scan? i was told to do this to check there is nothing on my comp slowing it down but i dont knwo how to.
thanks - hope you are enjoying your holiday - guess its not much of a holiday if you're working/
ali xx

Miss Ali...

I am not exactly a computing genius, if Mez reads this, he can help more... but if you want to look for something on the computer, then a search from the main menu is always a good place to start! I take it it's the playlist you want to find again and not the porn...?

A hard disk scan, well, you should have an antivirus program already (like the one I put on your home computer), if not, I can find you the address of a free one to use.

You should also use Adaware or Spybot or both to check for spyware which could very well slow down your computer.

Spybot can be found here:

if you just pick a site with which to download it. Let me know how this turns out. If you are in Glasgow, I will no doubt be around at some point so I can have a go for you then, if you like.
