Several of us are not actually Following The Rules for NaNoWriMo. My suggestion would be to sign up, and then use it as a goad for your landscaping. You can even write up little bits to describe what you've done on a particular day, as well as calculate how many hours of landscaping and housework you put in and multiply that by a wordcount estimate equivalent (ex: if it takes you approx. 1 hr to write 500 words, then 3 hours of landscaping = 1500 words!)
