 Hello everyone!

I've just joined, I'm Tae - pre-everything ftm - aged 20 from Sydney. Because I've never really engaged with anyone about this before I just have a wall of text after the cut filled with insecurities and a mini life story through which I'm really hoping you guys can reassure me that some of you guys have had similar experiences and ( Read more... )

Hi, Tae. :) I'm Tim, also in Sydney.

1) I came to knowing of trans-ness via the rather roundabout route of knowing I was gay. It sort of went: "I like men who like men who like men. I must be gay. Yay! Oh, wait, I'm female. I guess I must be trans too." I spent my childhood not wishing to be a boy, but to be an animal (this earned me ridicule when I attempted to discuss it on ftm forums). Although you will find people who genuinely fit the magic "always-always been a boy" paradigm, there are plenty who don't, and any practitioners worth their salt know this.

2) Couple of recs. Anything at the Gender Centre in Petersham that's run by Dash. And probably whoever else, but she was the person I gravitated toward when I was sorting things out. There's also a counsellor there, but if you're at the "will they let me have teh hormonez?" stage, that's not a question she can answer (which I found frustrating!). Someone who can answer that question for you, as well as give you a referral to a trans-friendly psychologist, is Dr Emanuel Vlahakis ( ... )

Hey Tae

I'm Gabe 24yrs from the syd area too. And your post is sooooo much like how I was.
I was 15yrs old when I first had any sexual connotations, and at that point everyone was like "you're a lesbian" and I was like "that doesnt make sense" I seriously thought I was a guy until I saw some naughty films here and there and went to health class and went "holy shit I'm missing something..."
Anyway. My story (which is ALOT like yours) is rather private and detailed, but if you wanna chat, even meet up for a drink and just clear your head free of judgement and concern I can do that.
email me- inkywook@yahoo.com
Also Rahball made some great points there, though I found the gender center to be rather distressing for myself and actually damaging to a degree...buuutttt thats personal opinion.
Anyway mate, head up and email if you want :)
