Well. I just handed a complete draft of my thesis in at the office. My supervisor's already looked at the chapters individually, so this is more like a second or third run through. I hope they're OK - he's been impressed by the content so far, but introductions and conclusions are not my strong point ( Read more... )

Reading German in gothic script? Your poor eyes! I find the gothic script terribly hard to read, even just for a mere sentence or two. The idea of reading hundreds of pages is quite frightening.

And more than 300 footnotes is almost inconceivable to a philosophy student - though when I resume my incarnation as law student next year, will be something I shall have to manage. How long is your thesis?

I'm sure it is fabulous, by the way.

My thesis is (supposed to be) 20 000 words. I'm a bit over that, and there are a couple of things I need to add, so I'm going to be spending the next week editing ( ... )

I thought your thesis would have to be longer in word length than mine, given the scope of writers you are covering. And even then, I can see how 20,000 words might be rather restrictive!

So nice to know that being Jewish disqualifies one from aesthetic judgement, and that Jews cannot possibly contribute to a classical culture. Erk.Very revolting. I wrote an essay last year on the conflict between Nazi ideology and Schoenberg's music, which required some fairly unpleasant reading - and I can only imagine how particularly unpleasant it would be for you. [While I'm not Jewish - though I have Jewish family members - it's fairly obvious why reading Wagner would not be a whole lot of fun ( ... )
