Sometimes I think I'm a Genius

As some of you pointed out in your own LJs and/or twitters, there's a sentence-fic meme over in the Nick RPF comm (which I also just discovered exists. I joined. Fun times). I requested a Jerry/Jennette long!distance fic that was totally filled, and it was adorable and vaguely smutty, but I decided to fill my own prompt, which I'm sharing (plus at ( Read more... )

disney - my happy place, fanfic manages my life, meme, jerryjennette - illegal? what?, bromance the novel, feminism - a lifestyle choice, random, jalex - so wrong it's right, writing - my whole world, movies, wizards of waverly place enchants me

Actually, as someone who has studied extensively in voice acting, I can back up the fact that it’s not uncommon for actors to choose to be substituted in for a singing role rather than make an attempt to sing for themselves. It was not an “issue” that needed “resolving” because, despite the level of substitutions, there were far more actors who sang for their characters than there were stand-ins. And more often than not, the stand-ins were there because the actors themselves tended to be a little uncomfortable with their own ability to sing. There were also special cases, such as Jeremy Irons in The Lion King. He attempted to sing for his character but actually blew his own voice out during the recording of Be Prepared. It was for that reason, and no other, that Jim Cummings stepped in and finished the song.

Or take, for example, the role of Clopin in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. His voice actor, Paul Kandel, was actually chosen because of his exceptional singing voice. In fact, the only character in the movie that was substituted in ( ... )

Clearly, I have zero voice acting training, or any kind of schooling ( ... )

Ha. It's just that in six years of training/study, I have continuously heard people complain about how seemingly easy the Disney producers would "replace" an actor in one of their movies and it raises my hackles like nothing else. I may have jumped the gun a tiny bit but for me, describing it as an "issue" was a bit on the offensive side if only because it was so very far from being so. An issue would be if the producers forced the actors to take substitutes which was most certainly never the case. Calling it an issue degrades the work put into each performance by actors and singers alike ( ... )

Yeah... saying it is an issue is bad. Maybe I should say it's a .... practice? idk. Connundrum? And actually, because I'm such a Disney fanatic, I generally flail like crazy because of all the amazing voice acting choices that they do make. I remember watching the behind the scenes for Meet the Robinsons and being shocked just by the differences between the voice of the character and the voice of the actor that voices the character. But it's always perfect.

So. I think we're on the same page. Except you're an actor and I'm not and are obviously more in tune with that world than I am.

No, they don't, and I know that, and I feel like I need to put my entire leg in my mouth, because I didn't mean, or want to imply that at all. It was more of a question of how much people actually know the characters they write or the real people they write.

Which is why I only have two RPS (that I'm okay with writing myself). Because I don't know them personally.

I don't disagree with anything you're saying, so I'm not really sure what to say. I'll just have to work very hard to know my words and all of their implications.

And never complain about the lack of Jerry/Jennette shippers again.

I don't know what just happened above me in the comments... so confused.

Anyway, I like dem fics up there. I don't really shit Jerry/Jennette but I like to think they may be tricking us all and stuff... it's a weird mixture. But I read all kinds of stuff and respect almost all ships anyway and am willing to read stuff and hear people's reasons why they love them. (I COULD LISTEN TO PEOPLE TALK ABOUT SHIPS ALL DAY)

WOOT.

Well, things that were in my entry that I deleted expressing my frustration at the lack of Jerry/Jennette.

Thank you. :)

So, that tumblr is addictive, and totally the best thing ever. Seriously.

I cannot make any other comment to that other than I am happy that you are enjoying Spam in any sort of capacity. :D

JERRY AND JENNETTE ARE JUST THAT AMAZING AND OOZE SEXINESS AND I LOVE THEM A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT.

I just - I can so see that happening. Ellen giving them all underwear. Because it's what she does. She legitimately gives people underwear and is totally capable of making saucy comments (or winks) and she and Jerry would just make an amazing interview/comic pair.

It's possible I would totally keel over if that ever legitimately happened. But I want it to. DREAM SEQUENCE. Even just some suggestive fade to black stuff.
