I really enjoyed that episode about Jayne being a well-loved hero and how freaked out everyone was. Simon and his, "No, this is what insanity feels like..." makes me laugh.
I love Zoe's attitude and her snark towards Mal. She's hilarious.
Actually, it's all the humour that makes me enjoy it so much.
Unless she was worried he'd hurt her or Mal in retaliation, and only felt safe speaking out when he no longer posed a threat. I don't know. I think this is very likely. I got the impression that Atherton was very powerful (and spoiled as hell), he had a lot of friends and was very rich, so it wouldn't have been hard at all for him to arrange having Mal or any of the crew members hurt or killed.
Also, not only was Inara supposed to be gang raped, she was supposed to have been sick, too. I would have liked to see that played out, at least character development/plot-wise - i.e. seeing Mal's reaction, in particular.
