we must overcome

As I'm sure most of you have heard at this point, a young man by the name of Trayvon Martin was murdered about a month ago. This case makes me sick and sad and so angry I can barely contain the rage. This reminds me of Latasha Harlans, shot in the back by a store owner who got PROBATION for the crime (and COMPLAINED about that!!!) and Tyisha Miller, shot 23 times by the Riverside Police Department while sleeping in her car, a murder for which no one was even arrested.

I am truly disgusted and ashamed to live in a world where black children keep being murdered just because they're black.

I've been following this case in the past few days. Fortunately, the media is reporting about this case almost every day in here, too. This case just makes me sick. I've understood that in that area where Trayvon and his murderer lived you are allowed to shoot someone, if you assume that the person you shoot is threatening you. Well, you can assume anything about anyone but I can't see how that would never, ever allow you to SHOOT someone. Good God.
I really hope that Trayvon's murderer will be arrested and he will be judged for this murder. If anything, it would show the society that racism is never, ever acceptable no matter what.
