I think the link comes back to this same post, my dear...

Either way, in case you havent, for non-fiction I would try Eat, Pray, Love. by Elizabeth Gilbert. It was an interesting read and her style is witty and fun

*hugs Lew tightly*

I've heard of Gilbert's book, of course. Do you think I need some spiritual guidance? *g* I'll pick it up next time I'm at Border's.

Hmmm... You must have clicked the link before I put in the url. It's working now. It goes to a screen with all the book list posts from 2007 to 2010. 2010 is at the top.

Ahh there we go! I think you're right, I went ahead of myself...

Btw, I never told you! I finally got Dead Witch Walking and The Good, The Bad and the Undead (I think there are 5 more after that, right? but I wanted to start slow lol) they're next up after I finish the current book I'm reading. :D

And no, you do not need spiritual guidance, but I thought in general the book was good lol ;)

*hugs back*

I think Kim Harrison has written one of the better urban fantasy series. The characters are multi-dimensional, the world is based on a tragic yet humorous event, and the magic is organic. The first book starts off a little shaky, but don't let that deter you. There's even one sexy vampire named Kisten.

What are you reading now?

We're trying to get Jim Butcher as the Guest of Honor at ou conference for 2011.

If you are into mainstream fiction, "Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" was a nice read. Let me know your preferences, I may have other ideas or authors for you.

Have you read anything by Malcolm Gladwell? He's got an interesting take on the world.

Having Jim Butcher at your conference (what is the name of it again?) would be cool. You'd get a lot of fans.

I'll look at the book you recommend. Thanks! I tend to prefer reality-based fantasy with strong yet feminine women as the protagonists.

My husband, who mostly reads sport and political non-fiction, is familiar with Gladwell. I'll take a look at whatever book he has.

I loved Great Expectations! It's been quite a while since I've read it. I might need to dust it off and have another go this year.

Have you tried the 3AM Epiphany and 4AM Breakthrough? Not really reading material though. They are hundreds of writing prompts. I've found some of them to be very useful in unlocking the block.

I haven't read Great Expectations for a very long time either. I bought it for my son, but decided to read it myself first. The story has everything.

I don't know anything about 3AM/4AM. Sounds good for generating short stories--something I haven't written in a while.
