Long distance phone calls and all I hear is static. I don't notice it so much when there are things to be said but when I'm trying to hear the sound of someone breathing, I imagine my voice and words broken into tiny little pieces. Sort of like a particular scene from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
