Food for thought:

YouTube didn't exist on September 11, 2001. Hell, I don't think there were phonecams, or if there were, they were REALLY new. How about that.

Funny that Youtube didn't exist but livejournal did. It's weird going back and reading one's response to such a strange day. I was working at a newspaper at the time, even tho smalltown, so right away all the jingoistic imagery got put up everywhere and I was infected with it a little bit too. That's when I started to go crazy! Well then, and when the anthrax attacks began.

That YouTube is fucking awesome.

I got an abortion a week after 9/11 happened. My good friend got shot with rubber bullets from riot cops in L.A. that summer.

It was just a fucked up year. Sounds like it was a fucked up year for you, too. Or was getting divorced a good thing?

The divorce. It destroyed me. I'd graduated college in Dec of 00 and with a marriage that was falling apart which I sucked up to get through the last semester. That was difficult. I remember the wind feeling a bit colder.

After that, we "tried", I suppose. I sacrificed a marriage for education and knew I was running the risk. It was supposed to be a happier time but it wasn't.

With that said, it was a good thing because it was inevitable. She was a bit older than me (8 years) and wanted kids. I figured I'd get into a space where I would want kids but it wouldn't happen. We had a pregger scare and I was ecstatic she wasn't pregnant.

That hurt her. And made her suspicious.

It's been a long time since and I still lack the desire to have a kid. So, in the short run it was a bad thing but in the long run, it was a good thing.
