[Scene] Don't Tell Phoenix...!

Apr 23, 2009 23:44

Iris: ((awww but you're so pretty too Krissie :3 you'll get yourself a man in no time!))
Kristoph: ((Not with these split ends I won't! *rushes to salon*))
Iris: ((grrrl you too paranoid))

Kristoph: *It's early morning at Gavin & Co. Law Office, and with Apollo not in yet Kristoph is taking a moment to do some tidying up. He rearranges his desk, files away some old case documents, and lastly tosses out the drooping flowers on his cabinet. He smiles to himself as he does so; he's expecting a delivery from In Bloom to replace them any minute now. Over the past few weeks it's become one of things he looks forward to with most interest, for a variety of reasons.*

Iris: *Iris comes in just then, a new arrangement in her hands. It's a full round bouquet of red roses and seasonal yellow daffodils placed in a clear square vase. She looks a touch more cheerful than usual today* Good morning, Mr. Gavin.

Kristoph: *Kristoph smiles warmly at her arrival and moves to accept the vase from her.* Good morning Miss Iris. I see you have yet another beautiful arrangement for me.

Iris: *places the new vase on the cabinet and takes the old one in one hand, adjusting the replacement with the other* Lovely, aren't they? We have many wonderful cuts coming in now that it's spring time.

Kristoph: I'm so glad you haven't asked me to pick them out myself. I would be hopeless with so many to choose from, and you do such a fine job. *He gestures towards the chair opposite his desk* Can I interest you in a coffee or tea?

Iris: *makes a few more adjustments to the bouquet before stepping back* I do have some time to spare...Perhaps I'll have some tea. *moves to the chair*
Kristoph: *Kristoph pulls out the chair for her and then pauses at the coffee maker which doubles as a water heater. Since he doesn't know what kind of tea Iris drinks he brings a few for her to choose from along with the mug.* So, are you settled in your new home?

Iris: Thank you. *sits down and takes a pack of peppermint tea* I am. I don't have very many things, and I'm familiar with Kurain...It was an easy transition.

Kristoph: *Kristoph takes a seat and sips from a cup of coffee he poured earlier* It must be a long commute for you to work at the store. But having family to go home to makes it worth it, no?

Iris: It makes a world of difference. *drops the tea pack in the mug of hot water, looking quite content with the subject* It does make me miss Sister Bikini in Hazakura...but she would rather I find happiness outside the mountains. And I have.

Kristoph: I'm glad to hear it. And it shows, in your work. *He glances to the flowers with a smile.* I'd almost say they look "bolder" than usual.

Iris: Oh? *blushes a little, glancing over to them as well* I wondered if the daffodils would clash with the roses. It's not a conventional combination, but they look nice together, don't they?

Kristoph: *He lifts an eyebrow at her reaction.* Yes, very nice. Did you perhaps have some special inspiration?

Iris: S-special inspiration? *blinks at him* Um...Such as?

Kristoph: Some effect of your new living situation, perhaps? *His eyes narrow playfully* The company you're keeping?

Iris: The company..? W-well... *blushes more, smiling coyly* Since you've asked... Mr. Armando and I are...

Kristoph: *His tone is faintly teasing* Mr. Armando? In that case, it all makes sense. *He chuckles* Then there was another reason for your move.

Iris: Yes. I've known him for quite a long time now, so it doesn't feel...unnatural.

Kristoph: Then I should wish you congratulations. *He takes a short sip of his coffee, and afterwards his voice lowers* Excuse me, I don't mean to pry, but does this mean you and Mr. Wright are...?

Iris: *picks up her mug and takes a slow drink of her tea* ...We've...been nothing more than friends for some years.

Kristoph: Of course. *He smiles once more* Congratulations it is. Mr. Armando is a remarkable man. I'm sure you're we'll suited to each other.

Iris: Thank you. He is quite astounding. *shyly* I hadn't thought about it -- us -- before he approached me. I wasn't in search of another...

Kristoph: They do say that one only finds true love when not in search of it. Maybe now was simply the right time.

Iris: *thoughtfully* It does come when you least expect it. *pauses* True, romantic love...do you believe it exists for everyone?

Kristoph: *He starts to answer, but pauses for a moment in consideration.* Do you want my truthful answer?

Iris: *looking straight at him* Yes. I'm curious to know.

Kristoph: *He sets his mug down on his desk.* No, I don't. Though I don't think *you* have anything to worry about.

Iris: There are many people in this world who share your opinion. *tilts her head at the second sentence* But...what is it you mean?

Kristoph: Don't you know? You're a beautiful woman, with grace and kindness. There will always be men falling in love with you. With so many possible suitors the odds are in your favor. *He smiles apologetically.* I'm sorry to put it so...clinically.

Iris: Ah..! *quickly tilts her head down, hiding her face* Please, Mr. Gavin... you flatter me too much. *sips from her mug*

Kristoph: *He chuckles* You asked for my honest opinion, that's all.

Iris: *still looking down, clutching her drink* ...I hope someday you find someone who will bring you happiness as well.

Kristoph: *He watches her for a moment, a little too closely.* Thank you. But I'm not certain the kind of happiness I want can be found in another person.

Iris: *looks up at him with curious eyes* Where can yours be found...?

Kristoph: *That wasn't the question he expected out of her, and the corner of his mouth twitches slightly. For some reason he answers truthfully.* I don't know. But I don't consider myself unhappy as of now.

Iris: *smiling* You don't appear to be unhappy.

Kristoph: Oh? *He leans forward with his elbow on the desk.* How do I appear?

Iris: *caught a bit off-guard, she hesitates for a couple of beats. When she speaks, it's with strict sincerity* ...As a confident man who is content with his life and has a good deal of control over it. It is admirable.

Kristoph: *Her answer pleases him a great deal.* Thank you. I'd say we have a rather accurate measure of each other, don't you think?

Iris: *glancing off, somber* We all find happiness in different ways. Perhaps...Mr. Wright will find his again.

Kristoph: I think he will. Maybe when...he's ready for it. *Kristoph sips from his coffee to hide a smile*

Iris: ...I-I shouldn't be saying such things. Trucy means the world to him. *gives a small smile, but it falters quickly* Asides from her, I don't know what it is he finds joy in anymore.

Kristoph: I understand. Sometimes I'm not sure what to make of him myself. I do my best not to pry, but... *He sighs.* It's natural to wonder about the people you care about, isn't it?

Iris: It is. *takes a sip of tea* I may be no longer in his life, but I do continue to worry for him.

Kristoph: Of course. Have you spoken to him, since your move?

Iris: *glances up at him* U-um. We've...exchanged a few words on our journals, on occasion.

Kristoph: Is that all? *He frowns thoughtfully.* When is the last time you saw him in person, if you don't mind my asking...?

Iris: *realizes she shouldn't have steered the conversation in this direction, but it's too late. She averts her gaze and responds after a few beats* ...At the beginning of this month.

Kristoph: *It takes some effort on Kristoph's part not to look too fascinated by her discomfort.* I take it the visit wasn't pleasant...?

Iris: He came to our store to pick up the empty boxes I had offered to him. The visit was brief, so we didn't speak to each other long. *pauses, her fingers curling over the mug handle* But it was enough.

Kristoph: I see. *Though he's very tempted to know more about what was said, he's not sure he can press further without giving away something of his motivations.* Maybe it's for the best.

Iris: *sets the mug down on the desk* I'm sorry. This is hardly a time to be talking about such a thing, is it? *a weak smile* I must return to the shop now.

Kristoph: I'm sorry for detaining you. *Kristoph stands and moves around the desk.* In any case, I'm very happy for you and what you've found. *He smiles warmly once more.* And that I can still count on you for these beautiful flowers.

Iris: *stands up* Thank you, sir. *walking past the cabinet, she looks to the arrangement* The flowers will continue to be more beautiful with each passing week. *smiles to him* Please have a nice day.

Kristoph: And you. *He opens the door for her*

Iris: *leaves quietly*

Kristoph: *Writes a Twitter post about the whoooooole thing squeeeeeee*
