Ed looked up from the basket, half a sandwich hanging out of his mouth. He was so preoccupied with food that he didn't even notice the pebble.

"Mmm?" He finished his food and crawled over, plopping down next to her.

"I'll give it a shot. What do I do, just stab the worm onto the hook?"

Winry leaned into his personal space to hand him the hook and bait.

"Yeah, but you have to double it over so you don't lose the worm when you cast it."
She picked up her own hook to show him and example. The girl picked up the largest, slimiest, wiggliest worm without flinching and thrust the hook through it's squishy body. After doing this multiple times, Winry held up her hook to Ed's face.

"Like this."

Ed looked like he wanted to puke up his sandwich and pushed Winry's hook away from his face. Well hell, if a girl could do it so easily, he'd just look like a wuss if he couldn't do it too.

"Alright, so, like this." Ed grabbed his own hook, and spent thirty seconds debating which hand he wanted to pick the worm up with. He spent another seven minutes trying to hook the worm, but failing miserably as the hook just kept slipping out from between his metal fingers. He tried switching hands, but ended up pinching the worm in half with his automail. In the end, all he'd succeeded in doing was driving the hook into his own left thumb.

Winry giggled at his futile attempt to hook the worm. She kissed Ed on the cheek as she took the bait and the hook from him.

"No, like this," as she spoke Winry set up his hook for him. When she finished she held it up for Ed to see.
The mechanic laughed, and teased him, "Do you want me to cast for you, too?"

Ed wrinkled his nose, looking like he almost wanted to punch the worm. "Gemmie that damn thing."

Ed grabbed the fishing pole and walked over to the edge of the pond. He cast his line rather impressively. At least he was good at throwing things.
