Ed didn't give two shits about the weather. That, or he just didn't pay attention to it. He was too busy worrying over final exams and college tuition and shit like that to really pay attention to pretty much everything else going on around him. Most of his free time was spent studying or going over schedules and shit. This week was nothing but studying, much like every other week before it. But he did remember something different on the schedule that caught his eye, if only for a split second.

"Oh, hey, wasn't prom this week? Or was that last week." Ever the perfect little gentleman, Ed actually remembered to hold the door outside open for Winry this time.

"It's Wednesday, I think."

Winry smiled as she walked through the door. That small gesture was very kind, and she appreciated it more than he'd know.

"But I wasn't planning on going. I've got no date."

Ed walked along down the sidewalk beside her, stuffing his hands in his pockets.

"Same here. I've had so much studying to do that I just haven't thought of it. And it's not like anyone would want to go with someone like me anyway, so why waste my time, y'know?"

"What do you mean 'someone like' you? You're more popular than you know."

"Popular, maybe. I'm talking physically."

Ed snorted, kicking a stone off the path. "I can out think practically anyone here, and I can hold my own against the best of the wrestling team, but when it comes right down to it, nobody's gonna go for a cripple that has to stand on a stool to reach the lab tables."
