Welcome to Automix, where the deadlines are made up and the quality doesn't matter!
K-Fic Automix is a remix challenge for k-pop fanfiction, in which you choose one of your own fics and give it a make-over. The goal of Automix is to examine your work from a whole different angle and create something new from it, with support and commiseration (and gentle kicks in the behind) from a group of partners-in-crime.
This is Automix's second cycle. Your mod this year is horrours. Our mascot is strawberrymalt and the friendly troll under our bridge to success is verocity (other official titles available upon request). Without further ado, here's what you need to know:
✧ ABOUT THE CHALLENGE
During the month of October, you will be looking at one of your fics and asking the question, "what if I had written this just a tiny bit differently?" And then, once you have the answer, you will proceed to do just that - in the form of a remix. Along the way there will be events, games and the frantic flailing of your fellow participants to nudge you towards the finish line in a low-pressure environment.
✧ ABOUT REMIXING
The best way I've seen remixing described is "writing a fanfiction of a fanfiction". You take a story and see what would happen if you approached it in another way. While the basic premise remains the same, you change a few details to re-interpret it, bringing a new dimension to the original work.
✧ THINGS THAT DON'T CHANGE
Since you're not writing an entirely new story, just putting a fresh spin on one that's already been told, these three things may not change:

Other than the three things above ... everything! You can change the genre, switch the narrator POV, focus on the stories of background characters, give the story an alternate ending, put in some deleted scenes, write a prequel, change the narration style or linear format, expand one scene or focus in on another ... and these are only a few suggestions. The other possibilities are endless.
And by all means, don't be afraid to try something new! Take a stab at a different writing style, make a foray into a rare genre, explore a usually-overlooked aspect of a typical situation, give things a bizarre twist you haven't seen before. Since Automix involves no competition, this is the perfect opportunity to break out of your comfort zone.
