Hidden Gems

Tonight I talked with a WWII vet who also happens to be my client's dad. He served right at the end and participated in the tail end of the Battle of the Bulge as a tank driver. I love finding gems like this and listening to them tell stories... I've been thinking about this entry of yours for a while. I saw an article about a novel the other day, it was about a guy who endured a generous amount of trauma and torture related to being captured during WW2. It sounded interesting and I had the thought that I wanted to read it, then had to wonder why - did I really want to put all those gruesome details into my head? I am interested in the psychological aspects but feel misgivings about my interest in imagining the extremity of the situation.
