"Those with expectations are happier."
I can not believe anyone who claims to be rational or any sense of logic at all would say such a thing. They could not be more wrong. That's like saying that a car with an empty tank of gas will go farther. You don't argue a point like that. You don't even think about it. It's so dumbfoundingly and obviously ( Read more... )

It may be that I am over-tired, but it also may be my thoughts right now.

But I do agree with you. I have expected things before and they usually don't work out. I don't expect anything from anyone really, even myself.

I do however disagree (at the same time). It sometimes depends on how far the expectation is going. If someone expects a lot from someone then they might just let themselves down (good chance of that happening). But, if they don't expect too much, but something small like 'not to cheat' or something then perhaps the end result will be a happy one.

It all depends on the depth of the expectation. I think...High expectations can be good and bad, depending on what you are expecting.

An interesting point of view.

I have to disagree that expectations can be good, though. In the situation where a person makes up their mind about something general, as in 'not to cheat', then it comes down to resolve and willpower, and if they keep it up, the result is what makes them happy.

Hope, even, can instill confidence and joy in a person.

...but it's never the expectation of anything, whether good or bad, which makes anyone happy.

I have quite a few expectations of certain things, people, including myself. And I am quite happy. :D

Just, if I don't get what I want, I get rid of it. Simple.

Knowing what you want is commendable, and taking action to ensure it is respectable.

However, I still doubt it is your expectations which contribute to your happiness. You have them in place for a reason, and that is your choice. I'm glad to hear the results work in your favor.

Well I'm not saying that its having the expectations that are exactly what make me happy, but I'm not unhappy because I have them.

Oh absolutely. I don't mean to imply that expectations will necessarily upset you, merely that they will never specifically make you happy...just like knowledge.
