i'm not exactly sure how they've got this set up, but they say i don't need any knowledge of thai before i go. of course i'll learn some while i'm there, not counting the 40 hours of TEFL training. but you've been in foreign language classes where the teacher only speaks in the foreign language, right? and there will be other adults there who speak english.
the other option is to go to quito, ecuador, which actually does offer official spanish classes, which will probably translate into more college credit for me.

seriously? if i do this, it'd be this winter quarter, and possibly spring quarter. see, it's unlikely someone will want to sublet my room for only 3 months, especially someone who meets my roommates' discriminating standards, so i might smash all my time away from olympia together? except then i would never get to see you. which sucks. so of course the solution that makes everyone happy is if you came with me. :) note my comment above where i mention i might go to quito, ecuador instead. but we'll see... it may end up that documenting thailand's unique cultural isolation will prove to be more credit-worthy than building off my high school spanish classes (yes, i still have thoughts of doing that documentary on education in different cultures).

holy shit i'm coming with you.
also, contract?

autumn_augury August 28 2005, 23:05:11 UTC
if i do a contract, then i have to pay tuition. if i don't do a contract, i can get credit through Prior Learning from Experience. i still need to discuss this with an advisor to figure out exactly what needs to be done. my plan is to not have to take any more classes before graduating, relying solely on PLE, internships, and contracts. i think that was secretly my original plan when i decided to come to evergreen.
