I'm really worried about Bridgette. She's now up to 260 pounds, which is obviously morbidly obese for a person that's barely 5'. She can barely walk anymore. She just keeps gaining and gaining....if we don't do something about this now, we're going to lose her. She'll die. If she dies, I'm going to go apeshit. I don't even know...*sigh* I hope ( Read more... )

If she can barely walk, then something more than overweight is going on. I'm 5'11" and 450 pounds and although I loathe my body I have absolutely no trouble getting up and around, or even going out dancing at clubs for 7 or 8 hours.

It's not too late. Get her to a doctor. She may have what I've got - I have something called hyperinsulinemia that makes it virtually impossible to lose weight. I spend at least an hour every single day working out at a gym, I watch absolutely everything I eat, and my weight still just keeps going up. Now I don't know what's going on with your friend but if she can get herself onto a good food & excercise routine, there are some medications that should help her lose weight at least back down to where she's safe. Xenical is probably the best of these, though obviously have her talk to a doctor about it.

*hugs* Chin up. There are things that can be done. Stay positive and you'll be alright.

I'm sorry, I didn't explain the entire situation. Your response is MUCH appreciated, and I'm going to try to get my mom/dad to do at least that much. They need to get off their asses and do something about this ( ... )
