Oh, LOL, I meant I didn't remember whether or not Lucy was my favourite character in the book. Not whether or not she was in it. And yeah, it is about as long as a screenplay. All the Narnia books are.
If you were to go back and re-read the book you'd realize that there is actually less character development in the book than in the movie. Surprising, I know. Lewis wrote the books for very young children, and didn't really expect them to want things like "character development". Also, the (spoiler) is in the book, so they didn't add it to be a cop-out or anything. This one gets made into movies because it was the first one he wrote, and if you read them in the order he wrote them (which is suggested by him and lots of other people), then Prince Caspian is next, and I hear they've already started on that one.
