Isn't there someone in your graduate school who has information about apartments? Do you have a mentor who is another grad-student who can make some suggestions?

Have you asked your advisor to connect you another grad student?

check the rental sites for the local area online. Its not so skeery really. just ske without the ery :) try picking up your life and joining the military.. now that was fun!

According to my buddy here at work, there's plenty of places down around campus, since that's where he suggested you'd want to live. You'll find a place, don't worry!
