Just an idea, but have you asked Monkeypunk where she gets hers? She's a 34F. I'm not sure she deals with the cute/comfortable problem.

WHY THE HELL CAN'T I FIND A CUTE/SEXY BRA*?? joanhello January 2 2010, 14:59:44 UTC
Because you don't live in a big city. Maybe even Boston isn't big enough. Maybe in order for you to benefit from the economies of scale that make bras affordable, you'd have to live in NYC (theater capital) or LA (movie capital) where there are enough surgically enhanced bustlines to make the larger sizes show up in retail.

If you were planning to stay this size for the next five years or so, I'd say an expedition to a NYC store would be worth it because, once you know of one size in one style from one manufacturer that works for you, you could mail order. However, given that your size will probably be permanently changed by pregnancy, your best bet is probably to keep doing what you're doing. And possibly learn to sew your own.

kat you crack me up! but you are preaching to the choir, here...

so, anyway, because i am an expert at never finding anything
to fit me (that's bras and jeans and, well, ANYTHING)i DO
have one solution for you.

don't laugh.

the "family dollar" stores ALWAYS carry the 38D and above size bras
for like $5. (i know because i am NOT a 38D or bigger and those
seem to be the ONLY SIZES THEY EVER CARRY!!!!!!!!)

anyway, you said you wanted a cheap bra just to tailor.

the $5 one might be worth a try.

good luck and feel better for 2010

Bras that don't fit a narrow list of people are as hard to find as many other forms of women's clothing. It seems that people assume certain things about the population when producing goods. If you have a small waist, they assume you have the narrow 'runway model' hips. If you have a certain cup size, they assume your bone structures and such must have a certain size as well. No idea why. Maybe they are just trying to only sell to the average or something. Sorry to hear it is giving you issues.
