For some considerable time (like, maybe a decade..) I've been contemplating a tattoo - but the design just wasn't quite coming together. Recently I feel like I have a clearer idea of what I'm looking for, but I'm still lost on style... let alone artist ( Read more... )

Ohhh.. thank you! I think I like some of his stuff the best of the stuff I've been sifting through!!! (I did realize that I've been discounting "color" portfolios, but maybe I shouldn't have)

I went to Sanctuary Tattoo in Maine. I did a search on "sacred tattooing" and they were the only ones who came up (10+ years ago).

No problem! Their site had me tricked for a while. I think you have to click on the artist's page and then their photo to see their portfolio. Chris did mine, but Jen is great too.

Ever in Boston these days? We should meet up!

Several of my friends have gone to Masterpiece in Salem, NH (right on RT 28 near the mall). I've been very impressed with their set up and their artwork. I believe that a portion of their portfolios are online too.

If you're looking for an image, Susan Seddon Boulet has some very interesting Spider Woman and Grandmother Spider (from the Animal Spirit cards) paintings. I'm not sure how the copyright works on that, or if you're looking for something that's more self-created, but your post made me think of these. :) Looking forward to see whatever you get.

Abdomen? Would that happen to include the part that will change shape when you get pregnant? I've heard of bad things happening to belly tats in the course of pregnancy.

All that aside, your design idea sounds quite lovely.
