Arthur C. Clarke is dead as a result of post-polio syndrome.

I really liked 2001 and 3001 when I was a teenager.

I loved him for more than that--I read just about all his books I think. I think often overlooked are his short stories like "The Star" and "The Billion Names of God" and "Rescue Party" He always had an optimistic, even mystical vision of humanity. So sad to hear this.
