America has it's charisma back!

I just have to say, above and beyond everything else, even with all of the major issues America faces with the economy, the war, and global environmental concerns... I am happy for Obama's win mainly because of the fact that we now have a President that knows how to speak... one that we can look upon with pride instead of scorn during speeches and ( Read more... )

One of the things I hate about most democrats is that they think they are to cerebral, and charisma isn't that important compared to policy, intelligence, etc. Just look at the clowns that the dems tend to run, Gore (the stilted politician, not the activist), Kerry, Mondale. They just lucked out with Obama and Clinton.

I'm all for intelligence and policy that I can agree with. An even temperament and keeping their ego under control are good things too. But a major part of their job is to be appealing to people, and not just voters. You want a president that other world leaders have a desire to please. You want a president that can get crowds of people excited at the possibilities.

I do think that Obama is what the seems. There is no doubt that he is power hungry, but his record is gaining power through leading others to empowerment, not through tearing others down. I just hope that he can keep from selling out to the big corporations.

Well said. I've been saying that for years. It seems like the ability to speak in public coherantly should be a basic requirement of the presidency.

I remember when the bombings on London's Tube and bus systems happened a few years ago. The Prime Minister's speech in reply was so moving. I found myself crying and glowing with hope at the same time. It made me so jealous that our own president has never inspired that reaction from me.
