So while I use this for my regular posts and such, I am looking at starting a blog somewhere else - I see a lot of people have them.

Any recommendations? wanderingbastet I'm looking at you :)

I have a self-hosted WordPress blog. They also do hosting there, and their system is highly customizable (and there are TONS of themes for folks who don't have a lot of web design experience).

This. I have several self-hosted Wordpress blogs on my domain, but they are definitely nice nice about hosting them instead. Not sure if you can buy a domain name and have it direct link to one hosted on Wordpress... but I'm sure you can, and that's what... $10 a year?

I use Blogspot for the farm blog (as I know Dangerboy does for his blog).
